This explains how the "Family Debts" app collects, uses, and protects your data. The app is an offline-first family debt & expense tracker with optional sync through our servers.
At sign-up: name, email, mobile number (optional), and password (bcrypt-hashed; unreadable by us).
Financial data you enter: your debt records, transactions, accounts, categories, and budgets — user-generated, stored locally on your device and synced to our server so you can access it across devices and share it with family members you invite.
Technical data: push token (FCM) for Firebase notifications, optional Google Sign-In (name & email only), and limited technical error logs for stability.
We do NOT collect: your location, contacts, photos, or other sensitive data.
To create and authenticate your account (including 2FA and biometric unlock), store and sync your records, enable family sharing, send notifications, and secure the account. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it for marketing.
Minimal only: Google Firebase (device token to deliver notifications) and Google Sign-In when you choose it. Your financial data is never shared; it stays only on your device and our secure server.
All data in transit uses encrypted HTTPS/TLS, passwords are bcrypt-hashed, and the app supports biometric lock and two-factor authentication (2FA).
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account from within the app (Profile → Delete Account) or via our data deletion page.
On deletion, your personal data and your private financial records (in accounts you own on your own) are permanently removed. Debt records you share with another person or your family also belong to the other party, so we retain them with your identity removed (shown as "Deleted User") so the other party keeps their record. The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
